Passed with flying colours!

Once again our UKAS accredited lab has impressed the assessment team

Our UKAS accredited lab was established very shortly after Murray Rix was launched almost 25-years ago. Now we are delighted to report that the latest inspection, that was conducted by the UKAS assessment team in July 2018, was once again one hundred per cent successful, meaning that our UKAS accredited lab has achieved full UKAS accreditation on every appraisal visit for what is now going on for a quarter of a century.
It may be us, but it does appear that each assessment visit is becoming more and more intensive and rigorous. Not that in any way this is a bad thing. It simply means that any UKAS accredited lab, if it wants to retain its accreditation status, has to always be ahead of the game. It has to be aware of changing construction industry requirements, regulations and standards. It has to always be in advance of technical developments. It has to ensure that all lab technicians remain up to speed on techniques, testing procedures and technology.

As our latest UKAS assessment success has highlighted, continuous development and improvement is, and always will be, a crucial part of the Murray Rix business philosophy.

Last month’s visit by the UKAS inspection team was a full assessment appraisal, which is conducted on a four yearly cycle. It is a most thorough, intensive, rigorous and exhaustive investigation process that delves into every aspect of our laboratory procedures. Checking, probing, assessing and analysing our technology, our methods, the quality and qualifications of our lab staff, our QA systems … plus of course the clarity, accuracy and value of our client reports.

Despite all these in-depth investigations the UKAS team announced themselves most impressed with our laboratory operation. They praised our quality and technical management abilities as well as the performance and competence of our technical staff.

They had no hesitation whatsoever in confirming our credentials and continuation as a fully approved UKAS accredited lab.

Whilst the UKAS team was on-site we also took the opportunity to discuss with them the process of extending our accreditation for additional specialist testing services that would significantly increase the range of site services as well as the laboratory services we would be able to offer to our clients.

The UKAS response was really most encouraging and so we are now in the process of evaluating new UKAS accredited lab tests that we can add to our schedule. As soon as we are able to confirm that these extensions are available, which we hope will not be too far into the future, we will of course be making an announcement.
